Robyn Rihanna Rihanna - the Barbadian Singer-Songwriter whose hits included Pon de Replay, SOS Umbrella and Take a Bow. Rihanna is among the most popular artists in history. Her music career has been an incredible success, and she's still very young. Born in Barbados she was raised listening to reggae music, and began singing when she was quite young. Afraid of their chaotic home life as well as endless arguments with her parents, she absorbed her self in music. She soon realized she wanted to become a professional musician. In high school, she formed a music group, and was asked to sing with Evan Rodgers. The producer was extremely impressed by the talents of this young lady. The singer made the move into New York so that she could pursue her full-time singing career. Rihanna's debut album was shortly out and Rihanna was a cult artist before long. The singer was popular among youngsters for her uplifting dance music, which was a hit. It led to her pursuing directing. Young and talented, her name is today considered a teen idol and a style icon. Rihanna also puts her fame to good use and is active in a variety of charity causes.
