Awkwafina started out as an American performer and rapper, making sly songs that addressed topics like racial or sexual identity with a comedic twist. Prior to her move to Hollywood the singer had the opportunity to release a number of songs. Nora Lum began her musical journey as a trumpet player. Born in Forest Hills Queens, she was the daughter of Chinese immigrants and Koreans. In addition to classical and jazz, the young Nora started studying hip-hop when she was in her teens.
